Coolness

Sometime back (at 'Pints or here, I forget which) I noted that an old picture in my possesion, captioned "Grandma Stone" was finally identified by the Tehama County Genealogical Society.

Tonight I got an email from the Society, asking for permission to use it in an upcoming article of the Society's periodical book. I'm happy to oblige.

Better: the article is being written by a grandson of said Grandma Stone. And if I can get a snail mail address for the fine fellow, I am going to send him the original picture. Because no one in my family knows the lady since my grandpa died more than forty years ago, and the picture should live with her family.

That's a good feeling.

Very cool.

You have a rich family history. Wish I had as much info on mine.

That's really great gesture on your part, Ken. Though I would suggest scanning it first, just in case you find out something more about why you have the pic in the first place.

Already scanned and sent off to the lady at the Society. Now I just need to find the original so I can send it to the family.

That is so cool! I have a bunch of pictures of people I don't know from somewhere back in the family tree but would have no idea how to find and share with the families.

(Then there was also the post about the battleship that you couldn't name over on pints... I'll have to see if I can find my post about it...)

Welcome back, LS! I don't know if it will help but I can find and send the original link. Let me know.

How did you know to contact the Society? And how were they able to find the info?

Stuff like that makes me so curious!
