Man gets burned while using lighter to siphon gasNyuk nyuk nyuk.
MUKWONAGO, Wis. - Police said a man was arrested after he used a cigarette lighter while trying to siphon gasoline from a van. The man, who was visiting friends, went to drive home early Saturday but realized that he didn't have enough gas in his SUV.
Police said the man tried to siphon the gas with help from another woman, but he couldn't see how much gas was in the container, so he used the lighter to check.

This isn't quite as much of a "dumbass" story, but it's similar...
This happened back when I was a student taking Organic Chem lab. One day, the prof in charge of the lab practically vaulted across his desk, ran to the back of the room, and grabbed a flask out of a student's hands.
Turned out the guy had cleaned the flask with ether, it didn't dry "fast" enough for him under the hood, so he was headed towards a lit Bunsen burner to "dry" it.
That would have been bad, as there was still liquid ether visible in the flask (it was one of those round bottomed ones...ummm, a volumetric flask?)
