What happens to those barrels once they're emptied? Here's a delicious little irony: Most of them are sent to Scotland and used again. That amuses me.
So with every sip of some fine old scotch, you're likely drinking a little bit of bourbon.

HA! Although I am saddened by the loss of genuine Scottish whiskey......
So, are you planning your next vacation? www.kybourbontrail.com

Or port, or even cognac. The practice isn't new, only the source of barrels.
And before you get too smug, don't forget that if it wasn't for Irish and Scottish immigrants bringing their Uisce Beatha recipes over here with them, there wouldn't BE any such thing as Bourbon.
Heh. I'm not smug about it, it just amuses me because I've run into some insufferable Scotch snobs. And I don't just mean in the vein of wine snobs, I can tolerate that, but I've actually met some who think anyone who drinks bourbon is a hick.
And bless our Scottish and Irish forebears who had the good sense to come here.
