So we bought a new stereo system this weekend. Pretty inexpensive, really. I'm setting it up tonight.
The old one served its purpose, but it was time to let it go. We bought it about 25 years ago, nice system with a good turntable and cassette player/recorder. Right before CDs killed vinyl and cassettes.
New system has a CD changer and cassette player/recorder (not that I have anything else to listen to cassettes on). Also an iPod docking station, on the chance that we ever break down and get an iPod.
No turntable, though, we'll get that at Costco here soon, to be able to turn our old vinyl into mp3 and CDs.
Iz out!

I was in an antique store with The Lad today, and found myself explaining a turntable to him by saying "They were like giant CD's that played music".
Shoot me now.
Antique store? Please tell me the turntable had a giant horn hanging off of it.
BTW, hurts to feel old, don't it?
At least our little guy (who turned 9 months yesterday, and of whom I posted new pics) will grow up knowing a little about vinyl and turntables...we've got a couple Bill Cosby records, a Bob Newhart, and a couple of music that's hard to find well done in CDs. Like the original Phantom of the Opera soundtrack (not the awful, new one).
Oh man, we've got Cosby and Newhart on vinyl too! Not Phantom, though.

i'm getting one of those usb turntables soon too.
Alas, I dumped my vinyls long ago, not realizing that some day, I could convert them to CDs in the comfort of my home. Oh, well.....
As a substitute, I run these in my home, for a house wide stereo system. With a hat tip to Mr. Bingley, who pointed me in the right directions.
