Random thought of the day

From someone who is a distant relation of someone who may be a distant relation to me:

A fine is a tax for doing wrong; a tax is a fine for doing well.

And the plaintiff's bar claims to "do well by doing good." Which is why they should be taxed at 95% or more, and why the idea that punitive damages aren't fines within the meaning of the Eighth Amendment's Excessive Fines Clause is absurd.
